PCB version TN11AUX board

Power Module Failure on the TN11AUX Board of OSN 6800?

Summary: The power module (provided by LINEAGE) fails after working for a long time on the Huawei DWDM board TN11AUX on Huawei OptiX OSN 6800 .

[Problem Description]
Trigger condition:
1. The PCB version of the TN11AUX board is VER.B.
2. The TN11AUX board uses a power module provided by LINEAGE.
Symptom:
The TN11AUX board reports a HARD_BAD alarm which persists or is transiently reported for many times but lasts only for about 10 seconds each time.
Identification method:
Use the following procedure to filter out involved TN11AUX boards:
1. Run a command to query the board manufacturer information. A board manufactured after February 2009 is not involved in this problem. For example, the board barcode is queried as 036618108B000777. In the highlighted part of the board barcode information, “8” represents year 2008, “B” represents November, and “8B” indicates that the board was manufactured in November 2008. Therefore the board may be involved in the problem and you need to go to the next step.

2. Run a command to query, or visually check the board PCB version. Version VER.D is not involved, while version VER.B is involved. The following figure shows the position of PCB version information on a TN11AUX board.

3. Check whether the TN11AUX reports a HARD_BAD alarm with the following alarm parameters:

para[0]=0x14,para[1]=0xd,para[2]=0x0,para[3]=0x1,para[4]=0xff,para[5]=0xff
If the TN11AUX board reports the HARD_BAD alarm with the preceding alarm parameters, go to the next step.

4. Check whether the board barcode is included in the attachment. If it is included, the TN11AUX board on OSN 6800 is certainly involved. If the barcode is not included, go to the next step.

5. Check whether the power module model is EQW020A0F61-13. If it is, the board is involved. The highlight in the following figure shows the specific position of the power module on the board.

[Root Cause]
The power module provided by LINEAGE generates heat seriously when working on the TN11AUX board and the module temperature is high. After working for a long time, the module is faulty and therefore the board reports a HARD_BAD alarm.

[Impact and Risk]
When the board reports the HARD_BAD alarm, a cold reset on the TN11AUX board has no impact on board services or system management. However, if the board is removed and inserted again, it cannot start.

[Measures and Solutions]
Recovery measures:
Replace the involved TN11AUX board.
