Q: Does S5700-10P-LI-AC support stack?

A: Yes, but it is not through the stack card, it is through the GE uplink interface.

V200R001: The last two uplink 1000Base-X optical ports can be used as stack ports.

V200R002 and later versions: The four uplink 1000Base-X optical ports can be used as stack ports.

Q: What is the difference between Huawei 5700 switch and 5300 switch?

A: Huawei S5700 target the enterprise market, S5300 target at telecom market, but most function are the same, the manufacturer did this mostly for marketing reasons as the telecom market most are big customers with better discount.

Q: Can an Electrical Interface of the S5700 Be Connected to an O/E Converter?

A: An optical interface of the S5700 can be connected to an O/E converter.

Q: Does the S5700 Interface Support 100M Optical Modules?

A: Fixed optical interfaces on the S5700-EI, S5700-SI, S5710-LI, and S5700-HI support 100M optical modules, while interfaces on extended front cards do not support 100M optical modules.

    Combo optical interfaces and 100/1000Base-X optical interfaces on the S5700-LI and S5700S-LI series switches support 100M optical modules.

    The S5710-EI series switches support 100M optical modules only on their combo optical interfaces.

    Combo optical interfaces and 100/1000Base-X optical interfaces on the S5720-EI series switches support 100M optical modules.

    In the S5720-HI series, only the S5720-32C-HI-24S-AC supports 100M optical modules on their 100/1000Base-X optical interfaces.

    The S5720-SI series switches support 100M optical modules only on their combo optical interfaces.

Q: How Do I Know that the S5700's Fan Operates Normally in Intelligent Mode?

A: The fans can work in the intelligent mode or forcible mode.

     In the intelligent mode, the fans start to operate only when the ambient temperature goes higher than a specified value. In V200R003C00 and later versions, you can run the display fan speed-adjust threshold minus command on the switches that use the intelligent heat dissipation mode to view the temperature thresholds for the fans to start and stop running. The set fan speed-adjust threshold minus command can be used to lower these temperature thresholds.

Q: Does the S5700 Support LRM Optical Modules?

A: The S5700SI supports long reach multimode (LRM) optical modules since V100R006C00SPC800. The S5700EI supports LRM optical modules since V100R006C01.

The S5700-LI (10GE optical ports), S5710-C-LI (10GE optical ports), S5700-HI (10GE optical ports), S5710-EI (10GE optical ports), and S5720-EI (only 10GE optical ports on extended interface cards) support LRM optical modules.

Q: Do 10GE Front Subcards of S5700 Switches Support GE/10GE Auto-Sensing?

A: The 10GE front subcards of the S5700EI do not support GE/10G auto-sensing, and 10GE front subcards of the S5700HI and S5700SI support GE/10G auto-sensing.

Q: Can 4*GE and 4*10GE Front Subcards of the S5700EI and S5700SI Switches Be Used Without an Extended Rear Subcard?

A: When a 4*GE or 4*10GE front subcard is used without an extended rear subcard, only two of the four ports on the subcard can be used: 

• 4*GE subcard: Only the first and second ports can be initialized. The ports are displayed as GigabitEthernet */1/1 and GigabitEthernet */1/2 after initialization. 

• 4*10GE subcard: Only the first and third ports can be initialized. The ports are displayed as XGigabitEthernet */1/1 and XGigabitEthernet */1/2 after initialization.

Q: Are the Cards of S5700 Hot Swappable?

A: Interface cards on the S5700 series except for the S5700EI and S5700SI are hot swappable.

Q: Why Only Two Optical Interfaces Are Displayed After a Front Card Is Installed on an S5700?

A: The reason is that no extended rear card is installed on the S5700.

    An S5700-EI or S5700-SI can provide only two optical interfaces for a front card. If a 4-port front card is installed, an ETPB extended rear card must be installed to provide the other two ports. Otherwise, only two optical interfaces are displayed.

Q: Can the Front Card and Stack Card of the S5700C Be Used Simultaneously?

A: When a 2-port front card is installed, the front card and the stack card can be used simultaneously. If a 4-port front card (ES5D000X4S01, ES5D00G4SA01, or ES5D000G4S01) is installed, an ES5D00ETPB00 extended rear card must be installed.

Q: Are Subcards of the S5700SI and S5700EI Support 10GE Ports?

A: The S5700SI and S5700EI switches use front subcards to provide 10GE ports. The ES5D000X2S00 and ES5D000X4S01 front subcards provide 10GE ports on the S5700SI and S5700EI switches. They use SFP+ optical modules.

     The S5700SI and S5700EI switches support the ES5D000X2S00 and ES5D000X4S01 front subcards since V100R005. 

• An ES5D000X2S00 front subcard can be used without a rear subcard or together with a rear subcard supported by the switches. 

• When an ES5D000X4S01 front subcard is used together with an ES5D00ETPB00 extended rear subcard of which the PCB version is VER.C, all the four ports on the ES5D000X4S01 front subcard can be used. If an ES5D000X4S01 front subcard is used without an ES5D00ETPB00 extended rear subcard or used together with a stack rear subcard, only the first and third ports on the front subcard can be used. The two ports are displayed as XGigabitEthernet */1/1 and XGigabitEthernet */1/2 in command lines.

Q: SW5700 Can GE Optical Ports Use 10GE Optical Modules?

A: The four uplink GE optical ports of the S5720-P-SI and S5720S-P-SI series can use 10GE optical modules, but can only be used for stack connections in this case. GE optical ports of other switch models cannot use 10GE optical modules. 100M optical ports cannot use GE or 10GE optical modules.
