Overview

Increases the launched optical power of the line board to 13–15 dBm or 15–17 dBm.

SSN1BPA (17/-38,LC) is an optical booster and pre-amplifier board for Huawei OSN1500B, OSN2500, OSN3500, OSN7500. The SSN1BPA (17/-38,LC) working together with V-16.2, U-16.2, L-64.2, V-64.2 and U-64.2 optical service board, deploy at transmit side to increase the launched optical power of the line board to 17dBm, or deploy at receive side to increase the receiver sensitivity to -37dBm. The SSN1BPA (17/-38,LC) model name is SSN1BPA02, part number is 03037362.

Q: What the difference between different functional version? 

A: The BPA is available in two functional version, namely, N1 and N2.The N1BPA is discontinued.


Q: What the last two number mean of SSN1BPA02?

A: The last two digital number means the BPA feature code, the relation as below:

Q: How could I calculate the fiber loss?

A: Take 120km transmission distance as example, the most deployed fiber are G.652, this type of fiber default is 0.275 dB/km, so 120km total loss is 120km*0.275dB/km=33dB.


Q: Can I use SSN1BPA02 if I don’t have SSN2BPA01?

A: Yes you can ,but remember N1BPA02 is 17dB Gain, N2BPA01 is 14dB Gain, to avoid burn down the board, make sure a 3dB attenuator is connected between fiber. 


Q: Should I deploy BPA at transmit side or at receive side?

A: Deploy at transmit side to increase the launched optical power of the line board to 17dBm, or deploy at receive side to increase the receiver sensitivity to -37dBm.
