Huawei OTN/DWDM device OSN6800 and OSN8800 support 40G line service board NS3, available functional versions of the NS3 board are TN11, TN52, TN54, TN55, and TN56, and each version has variants of T01 T03 or T04, then what are the difference among these versions and variants? - TN54NS3/TN55NS3 for OSN 6800/OSN 8800 UPS only supports relay mode.
- TN56NS3 for OSN 8800 UPS only supports relay mode. When TN56NS3 is used to receive SDH services, SDH service license for universal line boards is required.
- When TN56NS3 is installed in a general OSN 8800 T64 subrack, XCT+SXH or XCT+SXM must be used. When TN56NS3 is installed in an enhanced OSN 8800 T64 subrack, XCT+SXH, XCT+SXM, or UXCT+USXH must be used.
- When TN56NS3 is installed in an OSN 8800 T16 subrack to receive SDH services, TN16UXCM must be used. When SDH services are provisioned, TN56NS3 can be used only in an independent subrack, but not in a master or slave subrack.
- When OTN services are provisioned, TN56NS3 can be used in an independent subrack, a master subrack, or a slave subrack.
- When SDH and OTN services are received at the same time, the restrictions on the cross-connect capacity configurations for the boards in different subracks are as follows:
On 8800 T16, General 8800 T32 Subrack, or Enhanced 8800 T32 Subrack, if the maximum cross-connect capacity reaches 40 Gbit/s, ensure that SDH services are configured earlier than OTN services.
On General 8800 T64 Subrack or Enhanced 8800 T64 Subrack, the maximum capacity of SDH services can reach only 20 Gbit/s, and the OTN services can’t to be configured right now.
The difference between the NS3 board variants lies in the WDM-side optical module.

A TN56NS3 board occupies one slot, and a TN55NS3 board occupies two slots. To use a TN56NS3 board to substitute for a TN55NS3 board, install the TN56NS3 board into the right-side slot of the two slots that the TN55NS3 board originally occupies and keep the left-side slot of them vacant.
For an OptiX OSN 8800 T64/T32/T16/universal platform subrack / OptiX OSN 6800 subrack, the TN55NS3 board can be replaced with the TN56NS3 board.
