You may hear that MA5800X2 has higher performance than MA5608T and thus its price must be higher, but do you know how MA5800X2 is better than MA5608T? What is the differences and similarity between MA5608T and MA5800X2? How to choose the most suitable configuration? Which one can be the better choice for meeting your needs and save your network CapEx?

In this article, we will compare MA5608T and MA5800X2 regarding main control board, (X)GPON board, physical parameters, etc.

Huawei GPON OLT Series Description

MA5600T Series GPON OLT

MA5600T GPON OLT

SmartAX MA5600T is the global first OLT which integrates the functionality of aggregation switch and edge router. It can provide highdensity GPON, 10GPON and Ethernet P2P optical access, tripleplay service, TDM/ATM/Ethernet leased line services for business customers and high precision clock, and high density GE/10GE interfaces for cascading remote access equipments. MA5600T helps to simplify network architecture, to improve network reliability and lower TCO essentially.

There are three types of frame of MA5600T series product. The large frame (which named MA5680T) has 16 service slots while the middle frame (which named MA5683T) has 6 service slots, the small frame (which named MA5608T) has 2 service slots. The service card and software are all compatible between MA5680T, MA5683T and MA5608T.

MA5800 Series GPON OLT

MA5800 OLT

The MA5800 is the industry’s first smart aggregation OLT with a distributed architecture. It is positioned as the next-generation OLT for NG-PON. The product is designed to help carriers build networks with larger bandwidths, higher speeds, and smarter connectivity to deliver better service experience.

Providing GPON, 10G GPON, P2P GE, and 10GE access, the MA5800 supports deployment on FTTH, FTTD, FTTB, FTTC, and distributed converged cable access platform (D-CCAP) networks. This makes it applicable to home access, enterprise access, mobile backhaul, and Wi-Fi hotspot backhaul scenarios to aggregate all services on one fiber network.

The MA5800 functions as a large-capacity aggregation device on the network to aggregate the traffic from ONTs, MDUs, and campus switches, thereby simplifying the network architecture and reducing the OPEX.
