Comparison of OSN8800 100G Line Board NS4 with Different Versions

Huawei OSN 8800 100G line board NS4 achieves cross-connection at the electrical layer, and to provide OTN interfaces and ESC, and supports mixed transmission of ODU0, ODU1, ODUflex, ODU2, ODU2e, and ODU3 signals.

NS4 has different function versions of TN54, TN56, TN57, TN58 and TN59, and then is there any difference in appearance, function and deployment?

TN54NS4/TN57NS4/TN58NS4/TN59NS4:

  • In enhanced OSN 8800 T64/T32 subrack and OSN 8800 T16 subrack,the board can work either in line mode or relay mode. When the board works in line mode, the enhanced OSN 8800 T64 subrack must use the TNK2USXH+TNK2UXCT and the enhanced  OSN 8800 T32 subrack must use the TN52UXCH/TN52UXCM and the OSN 8800 T16 subrack must use the TN16UXCM.
  • In the general OSN 8800 T64/ T32 subrack and OSN 8800 universal platform subrack , the board can work only in relay mode.

TN56NS4:

  • In enhanced OSN 8800 T64/ T32 subrack, general OSN 8800 T32, and OSN 8800 T16 subrack, the board can work either in line mode or relay mode.

When the board works in line mode, enhanced OSN 8800 T64 subrack must use the TNK2USXH+TNK2UXCTboards and the enhanced OSN 8800 T32 subrack and general OSN 8800 T32 must use the TN52UXCH/TN52UXCM and the OSN 8800 T16 subrack must use the TN16UXCM.

OSN8800 T32

The board can work in line mode on a general OSN 8800 T32 subrack only when the OSN 8800 T32 standard subrack speedup (per subrack) license is configured.

  • In the general OSN 8800 T64 subrack and OSN 8800 universal platform subrack, the board can work only in relay mode.

4, Functions

a. FEC Encoding

TN54NS4: Supports HFEC and SDFEC on the WDM side.

TN56NS4: Supports SDFEC on the WDM side.

TN57NS4: Supports HFEC and SDFEC2 on the WDM side.

TN58NS4: Supports SDFEC2 on the WDM side.

100G line board NS4

TN59NS4: Supports SDFEC2 and FEC on the WDM side.

Boards that use different FEC modes cannot interconnect with each other.

b. Functions and Features

  • OnlyTN56NS4/TN57NS4/TN58NS4/TN59NS4 board supports TCM and TCM non-intrusive monitoring of the ODUflex layer.
  • TN59NS4: In versions earlier than V100R013C10SPC500, ASON is not supported in high SOP mode. In V100R013C10SPC500 and later versions, only ASON without optical parameters is supported in high SOP mode.
  • TN59NS4 does not support ODUk SPRing protection.
  • TN54NS4/TN56NS4/TN57NS4does support latency measurement; TN58NS4/TN59NS4, when a higher-order cross-connection is created, the board supports TCM latency measurement for upstream higher-order ODU channels. When a lower-order cross-connection is created, the board supports PM/TCM latency measurement for upstream higher-order ODU channels and TCM latency measurement for upstream lower-order ODU channels.

5. Substitution Relationship

Original Board Substitute Board Substitution Rules
TN54NS4 TN56NS4/TN57NS4 The TN56NS4/TN57NS4 can be created as 54NS4 or 54NS4(REG) on the NMS. The former can substitute for the latter, without any software upgrade. After substitution, the TN56NS4 functions as the TN54NS4.

NOTE:

TN56NS4: When both the receive and transmit boards employ SDFEC, the substitution applies.

TN57NS4: When both the receive and transmit boards employ HFEC, the substitution applies.

TN56NS4 None
TN57NS4 TN58NS4/TN59NS4 The TN58NS4/TN59NS4 can be created as 57NS4 on the NMS. The former can substitute for the latter, without any software upgrade. After substitution, the TN58NS4/TN59NS4 functions as the TN57NS4.

A TN58NS4/TN59NS4 board occupies one slot, and a TN57NS4 board occupies two slots. To use a TN58NS4/TN59NS4 board to substitute for a TN57NS4 board, install the TN58NS4/TN59NS4 board into the right-side slot of the two slots that the TN57NS4 board originally occupies and keep the left-side slot of them vacant.

NOTE:

When both the transmit and receive boards use SDFEC2 encoding and are of the same type, they can substitute for each other.

The TN57NS4 board cannot be replaced with the TN58NS4T62 and TN58NS4T50 board.

NOTE:

The TN59NS4 does not support ODUk SPRing protection.

TN58NS4 TN59NS4 The TN59NS4 can be created as 58NS4 on the NMS. The former can substitute for the latter, without any software upgrade. After substitution, the TN59NS4 functions as the TN58NS4.

NOTE:

When both the transmit and receive boards use SDFEC2 encoding and are of the same type, they can substitute for each other.

NOTE:

The TN59NS4 does not support ODUk SPRing protection.
