All productsIn Huawei OLT system, Huawei ONT (Huawei EG8141A5, Huawei HG8546M…) can be added online or offline through the automatic discovery function, which requires relevant commands. In this article, we chose Huawei EG8141A5 and Huawei MA5800 X15 to briefly introduce how to enable the ONT auto-discovery function and the PON port laser function.
Automatic Discovery of an ONT
The MA5800 X15 system adds EG8141A5 using either of the following methods:
1.Adding Huawei EG8141A5 offline: Before installing Huawei EG8141A5, manually add Huawei EG8141A5 to the Huawei MA5800 X15 and configure Huawei EG8141A5. After Huawei EG8141A5 goes online, the Huawei MA5800 X15 authenticates the Huawei EG8141A5 and issues configurations to Huawei EG8141A5.
2.Adding Huawei EG8141A5 online: After Huawei EG8141A5 is installed, the Huawei MA5800 X15 discovers the online Huawei EG8141A5 and adds and configures it.
The automatic discovery of Huawei EG8141A5 applies when Huawei EG8141A5 is added online. In this scenario, the installation time of Huawei EG8141A5 is uncertain because the Huawei MA5800 X15 periodically searches for online Huawei EG8141A5.
3.The automatic discovery of Huawei EG8141A5 connecting to 1 Huawei MA5800 X15 PON ports is disabled by default.
4.Run the port ont-auto-find command to enable the automatic discovery of Huawei EG8141A5.
5.Run the display ont autofind command to query the automatic discovery of Huawei EG8141A5.
Laser
Run a command to enable or disable a laser for a PON port.
1.The laser for a PON port is enabled by default.
2.Run the shutdown command to disable a laser.
3.Run the undo shutdown command to enable a laser.
NOTE:
After a laser is disabled, all services carried on the port with the laser are interrupted. Exercise caution when disabling a laser.
