Q: Can S6700 10000M Port Connect to the 1000M Optical Module?

A: S6700 10000M port can connect to the 1000M optical module.

In V100R006C00SPC800, when the S6700 10000M port connects to a GE optical module, the port rate switches to 1000M and works in non-auto-negotiation mode. If the 10000M port connects to the 1000M optical port on the peer device, the 10000M port can become Up only when the peer device works in non-auto-negotiation mode. After the S6700 has V100R006SPH005 installed and the S6700 10000M port connects to a GE optical module, you can run the negotiation auto command to switch the port to auto-negotiation. In this case, the 10000M port can connect to the 1000M optical port in auto-negotiation mode.

In later versions of V100R006C00SPC800, when the S6700 10000M port connects to a GE optical module, the port rate switches to 1000M and works in auto-negotiation mode.

 

Q: After the shutdown and undo shutdown Commands Are Used on a Trunk Member Interface of an S6700, Traffic Is Interrupted. Why?

A: When the shutdown and undo shutdown commands are used on a trunk member interface of an S6700, the trunk bandwidth changes. The ifnet sends a port rate change event. MSTP responds to the event and delivers the Block flag to the outbound port. As a result, the outbound port cannot forward traffic. After 15s, MSTP delivers the forward flag to the port. Traffic can be forwarded. When the shutdown and undo shutdown commands are used on a trunk member interface of an S6700, traffic is interrupted for 15s.

 

Q: Can the S6700 Switches Be Configured Not to Take Any Action After Detecting Loops?

A: After loop detection is enabled on the S6700 switches:

• The switches perform the configured action after detecting a loop.

• The action can be changed but cannot be disabled. When the action is changed to trap, the switches only report a trap and do not take any action after detecting a loop.

• Set the rate limit for outgoing packets on the interface to 10 Mbit/s.
