S6720-HI series full-featured 10 GE routing switches are Huawei’s first IDN-ready fixed switches that provide 10 GE downlink ports and 40 GE/100 GE uplink ports.

S6720-HI series switches provide native AC capabilities and can manage 1K APs. They provide a free mobility function to ensure a consistent user experience and are VXLAN capable of implementing network virtualization. S6720-HI series switches also provide built-in security probes and support abnormal traffic detection, Encrypted Communications Analytics (ECA), and network-wide threat deception. The S6720-HI is ideal for enterprise campuses, carriers, higher education institutions, and governments.

A: No,

For S6720 series switch	License is not required since its 40G/100G self-adaptive.
For 6730 series switch	License is required since the default uplink port is 40GE, which needs to be upgraded to 100GE through the license.
For CE series switch	License is not required since 40G or 100G/40G is for choice.

Q: What is the difference between S6720-50L-HI-48S and S6720-30L-HI-24S switch?

A: Both switches belong to S6720-HI series switch; however, S6720-30L-HI-24S has 24-ports 10GE SFP+ while S6720-50L-HI-48S has 48-ports 10GE SFP+.

Q: What is the difference between S6720-30L-HI-24S and S6720-30C-EI-24S?

A: These two models are both 10G/40G switch:

S6720-30L-HI-24S also has 24*GE ports, 4*40G QSFP+ ports and 2*100GE/40GE QSFP28 ports, but without extended slot.

While S6720-30C-EI-24S has 24*GE ports, only 2*40G QSFP+ ports, but with one extended slot which can configure ES5D21X08S00 (8-Port 10GE SFP+ Rear Optical Interface Card) or ES5D21Q04Q01 (4-Port 40 Gig QSFP+ Rear Interface Card).
