| Functions and features (line mode) |
| Basic functions |
N220 supports the following service conversions: |
| Assign consecutive: |
| 8 x ODU0<->4 x ODU1<->1 x ODU2<->1 x OTU2 |
| 4 x ODU1<->1 x ODU2<->1 x OTU2 |
| Assign random: |
| 8 x ODU0/4 x ODU1/8 x ODUflex<->1 x ODU2<->1 x OTU2 |
| 1 x ODU2<->1 x OTU2 |
| 1x ODU2e<->1 x OTU2e |
| Each port on the board supports a mix of ODU0, ODU1, and ODUflex signals. |
| Cross-connect capabilities |
Supports a maximum of 160 ODU0 signals, 80 ODU1 signals, 160 ODUflex signals, or 20 ODU2/ODU2e signals and cooperates with cross-connect boards to implement service grooming. |
| OTN functions |
Supports OTU2/OTU2e on the WDM side. |
| Supports the OTN frame format and overhead processing defined by ITU-T G.709. |
| OTU2 layer: supports SM overhead processing. |
| ODUk (k=0, 1, 2, flex) layer: supports PM and TCM overhead processing, and non-intrusive monitoring of PM and TCM overheads. |
| WDM specification |
Supports DWDM specifications. |
| Tunable wavelength function |
Supports tunable wavelength optical modules that provide for 80 wavelengths tunable in the C band with 50 GHz channel spacing. |
| ESC function |
Supported |
| PRBS test function |
Supports the PRBS function on the WDM side. |
| Latency measurement |
The board supports latency measurement in the WDM-side optical port direction (upstream direction). When higher-order cross-connections are created on the line board, TCM section latency measurement is supported for higher-order channels. When lower-order ODUk cross-connections are created on the line board, PM/TCM section latency measurement is supported for higher-order channels, and TCM section latency measurement is supported for lower-order ODUk channels. |
| FEC coding |
Supports ITU-T G.709-compliant forward error correction (FEC) on the WDM side. |
| Supports ITU-T G.975.1-compliant AFEC-2 on the WDM side. |
| NOTE: Boards that use different FEC modes cannot interconnect with each other. |
| NOTE: Only the IN1/OUT1 to IN8/OUT8 and IN11/OUT11 to IN18/OUT18 support AFEC-2 encoding. |
| Alarms and performance events monitoring |
Monitors BIP8 bytes (Bursty mode) to help locate line failures. |
| Monitors parameters such as the bias current, temperature, and optical power of the laser. |
| Monitors OTN alarms and performance events. |
| Loopback |
WDM Side Loopback |
