Solution

What are the function differences between N1EAS2 and N3EAS2?

EAS2 is 2×10 GE Ethernet service card of Huawei MSTP/SDH equipment OSN3500 OSN7500, it is used to transmit/receive Ethernet services, manage bandwidths, and provides the Ethernet data with the following data features: Layer 2 switching, port isolation, flow classification, traffic control, VLAN management, and priority configuration.

ESA2 application

EAS2 consists of the interface processing module, mapping module, interface converting module, logic and control module, clock module, and power module.

EAS2

EAS2 has functional versions N1 and N3, two versions have some different functions, N3EAS2 has newer started version than N1EAS2, N3 starts version of V200R012C01, while N1EAS2 starts from V100R008C01, below content will mainly introduce two versions difference from several aspects.

Function and Feature N1EAS2 N3EAS2
Pluggable optical module XFP SFP+

Also supports one-fiber bidirectional

EVPL (Ethernet virtual private line) service PORT-shared EVPL services supported supported
VCTRUNK-shared EVPL services supported supported
The services are isolated by VLAN tags.

The services are isolated by MPLS tags (supported on N3EAS2)

The services are isolated by QinQ tags.

MAX links supported 2048 4096
Maximum uplink bandwidth 10 Gbit/s 20 Gbit/s
Maximum bound bandwidth 64xVC-4

or 192xVC-3

128xVC-4
Concatenation granularities VC-4-Xv (X≤8), VC-3-Xv (X≤24), and VC-4-4c  VC-4-Xv (X≤64) and VC-4-4c/16c/64c
NOTE:

For N3EAS2 boards, VCTRUNK1 and VCTRUNK18 support VC-4-16c/64c adjacent concatenation. Other VCTRUNKs only support VC-4-4c adjacent concatenation.

N3EAS2 supports adjacent concatenation only for bidirectional service

As for OSN3500 OSN7500 EoS service boards, FE GE service like EFS0 EGS4 is more common, which can meet most requirements of the operators, 10GE Ethernet board ESA2 is very rare, high price is, and hard to find on the market.

If your OSN3500 or OSN7500 is Hybrid version, you can consider PEX2 (2x10GE Packet Processing Boards) to transmit and receive 10GE service. When EAS2 applied, 10GE is encapsulated in SDH frame; if you use PEX2, it is another package plane, Ethernet service no longer into SDH frame, it running on another plane, use another fiber.
