How to Upgrade Huawei ME60 Series Router

With the advancement of the technology, new software for Huawei ME60 (ME60-X3/ME60-X8) is gradually released. Software upgrade allows our customers to utilize the latest features and security enhancements that simply make the devices to operate proficiently.

 

Inevitablely, customers need to upgrade the software version based on their existing equipment.  In order to serve our customers better and help them cut network rollout OPEX, we provide instructions on how to upgrade the ME60 series router in this article. The ME60-X8 is used as an example to briefly elaborate on the upgrade process of Huawei ME60 series router like ME60-X3 and ME60-X8.

 

Upgrade Preparation

  • 0, Back up all configuration information of the router.

The most important one is to use CRT or Putty log function to backup all your configuration.

 

Upgrade Procedure

  • 1, Run the display version command to verifying the current system software version

  • 2, Check the system files and verfify remaining storage space.

Run the dir command in the user view to verify that remaining space is sufficient for storing the target system software.

If the storage space is insufficient, run the delete command which can dump files into the recycle bin and then delete the unnecessary files. Please note that this step has high risk, thus it is suggested to back up the related files to the local PC.

 

  • 3, Configure ip address for docking PC and upload .cc files from it.

  • 7, Save and reboot the router

 Run the save command to save the current configuration successfully and then run roboot command .
