About CE6863-48S6CQ, we noticed that there are CE6863-48S6CQ-F and CE6863-48S6CQ-B, this article will mainly introduce F and B model. It’s well known that CE6863 series switch is in flexible airflow design, support front-to-back/back-to-front airflow, which improves energy efficiency.
Front-to-back airflow: Air flows into the chassis from the power supply side and is exhausted from the port side.

“B” stands for Back-to-Front airflow (port-side intake), “F” stands for Front-to-Back airflow (port-side exhaust), so CE6863-48S6CQ-F is port-side exhaust, while CE6863-48S6CQ-B is port-side intake.

Power module
CE6863-48S6CQ supports 1+1 backup of AC or DC power modules, and hot swappable, here take DC power module for example.
PDC1000S12-DB is back to front airflow design, and PDC1000S12-DF is front to back airflow, but have the same functions.
Fan module
Fan modules work in 3+1 backup mode, all fan modules are hot swappable, it is recommended that four fan modules be properly installed on a switch to ensure normal switch operating.
FAN-031A-B back-to-front airflow, FAN-031A-F front-to-back airflow, they have same function.
Note: when configure CE6863-48S6CQ, the power and fan module must be in same airflow direction, if you need front to back model CE6863-48S6CQ-F DC power, then power module must be PDC1000S12-DF, fan module must be FAN-031A-F.
Beside CE6863-48S6CQ-F and CE6863-48S6CQ-B, you will find that there is another model CE6863-48S6CQ-K.
Actually CE6863 series includes CE6863-48S6CQ and CE6863-48S6CQ-K, they have no performance and specification differences. CE6863-48S6CQ-K, “K” stands that this switch passed a AK national ministry certification, supplied to the government mostly. CE6863-48S6CQ has no such certifications and no sell limitation.
